29 Jan reminders and homework

Mathematics
- activity book 32 and 33.

Students were taught to circle the numbers and underline keywords.
Identify the questions if it is addition or summation.

Common mistakes:

Some students tend to forgot to add the next place value "tiny 1" when renaming or regrouping. Do take note that they must remember to add the "tiny 1" they have written. E.g. 321 + 82 = 303 instead of 403.

They were also taught to calculate vertically in table form with labels "h,t,o"

English
No homework ^.^¥

Today we recap yesterday's articles
Important note:

"An" is for words that begins with vowels or sound like vowels e.g. An Hour and an honest child. The "h" is silent and we pronounced it as "our" and "onest".

"A" is for words that do not start with a vowel. General.

However, some special words that starts with "u" are pronounce as "y-eww"
E.g. Unicorn, uniform, university. They will have to start with an "a".
Whereas words like "uncle" or "umbrella" they start with the "uh" sound, so it will be "an" umbrella and "an" uncle.

"A" and "an" are mainly for singular nouns.

"The" is for special words, proper nouns mainly or it is the 2nd time you are talking about the noun.

E.g. "The" sun, moon or sky as there is only one sun, moon and sky. "The" stars (plural).

Alicia bought some pies. The pies are bad! Now the "The" was referring specifically to that pie Alicia bought.

Hope this helps. The children have written these in their Grammar book. You may use it as reinforcement.

Admin matters:
Tomorrow, I will not be around as I am on medical leave. I have written clear instructions for the relief teacher/s, please rest assure that lessons will continue. Instructions and explanation were given during class today. The children have an idea of what is going on tomorrow.

There is no homework for tomorrow (Wednesday).

Do take care of yourself as there is a bad
Flu bug just around the corner, all ready to attack you. I happened to be the unfortunate one. ):

Do consume more fruits that are high in vitamin C, such as guava or green apples.

Take care!
